I've had my Arc AAA for about a year. It usually gets used for a few minutes at a time. Up until recently, it had never been on for more than a half hour at a time. The other day, I positioned it so that it faced up into a plastic cup to diffuse the light and used it as a lantern. After a while, it got noticaby brighter for a few seconds and then back to normal for a few minutes, then brighter for a few seconds, then normal again. This continued throughout the next half hour or so. I'm not sure if "normal" was actually moon mode or not. I'm still on the same battery and back to my regular minute or so of use at a time.

My question is... when the light goes into moon mode, does it act the way as described? Or is this the "flicker" problem that some people seem to have? Any ideas?

This doesn't sound like the flicker problem. This sounds like the occasional variation you get as the regulator transistions into "moon mode".

A fresh battery should return it to solid output.

If it were me, I'd toss a new battery in there AND crip the head. Sounds like it actually could be a ground problem as well. I had one that did something similar to that - a new crip solved it.

Good advice...

My brother just gave me back a very nice LE that was dimming and flickering.I did a nice crimp on it,and it is now perfect. It is even brighter than when it was working good before.Definitely something to try.....

I just did V2 roll crimp. Didn't work. V3, however, appears to have worked. On the rare occasions (After applying V3 I turned it on and off 100 times...I counted) it flickered I just had to turn the head a little tighter and it came on so I'm
