1) How would you prefer to purchase the light?
I will be mail-ordering or buying online, so this doesn't matter.
But delivery time must be less than two weeks to Finland.

2) Budget: An easy question, but you may change your mind after answering the rest! :-)
Less than $100.
Doesn't (necessarily) include the battery cells.

7) What battery type do you want to use?
I intend to use rechargeable lithium (li-ion) chemistry. Preferably 18650

8) How much genuine out the front (OTF) light do you want/need? Sometimes you can have too much light (trying to read up close up with a 100 lumen light is impossible).
I want to walk around an unlit rural area (50-150 lumens).
I also need a feature to cast ~500-1000 lumens for a short period of time.

9) Throw vs. Flood: At what distance will you be most likely to use this light? Select all that apply.
Low mode for ~5-20 meters flood., high mode for 50-100 meters flood.

10) Runtime: Not over-inflated manufacturer runtime claims, but usable brightness measured from first activation to 50% with new batteries (Measured on maximum output).
Low mode at least 8 hours, high mode 15 minutes is enough.

11) Durability/Usage: Generally the old phrase "you get what you pay for" is very accurate for flashlights.
Important (Camping, Backpacking, Car Glove-box).

I don't care. Reasonable durability is expected but it wont be used as a hammer. Level of water resistancy is a bonus.


The light will be used to provide light for general night time activities including but not limited to doing woodwork or building things, building tents, walking in woods, cooking and so on. Anything a normal camper or a mad scientist could come up with.

Most of these activities are more easily done with two hands. Are you sure that a head-lamp wouldn't better serve your needs?
 
A headlamp that fills the rest of needs would be acceptable too. Do note though that a flashlight can be placed on a dry surface to give light for many people while with a headlamp the light is only in front of you. Also that super bright mode is absolutely necessary and I have found it a rare feature in headlamps.
 
You might look at the zebralight headlamp

I don't have one, but some have said that the ZL lumin claims are a little higher than than actually are. I don't know, but I mention this only because you mention the shortime high out put need.

You may also want to consider that floody beams do not throw as far as others given the same number of lumins. So if you are wanting 500-1000 lumins to reach something in the distance, you may consider carrying a second light, a thrower (this way you also have a backup). When you want the higher output, how far did you want to be able to see? Also with how much light? There are people here who know how to make calculations regarding how much candle power a light needs to be to meet your requirements. I'm just trying to get the info from you so they can be of better assistance, considering that you are on a bit of a tight time-frame regarding getting the light delivered before you leave for your trip.
