Greetings all!
I would appreciate you input on the Hotwire reflector focusing shims.

I have only heard of them and never seen any...

Any pics?

and how can I make my own?

(my Setup is all Kai Domain (socket and reflector))

TNX, Kostas

I will revive this topic since I got some answers in asales thread: A & B

So, now that I understand I am in the process of making mods.

I will use a FM with his shims in a Mag85 I am building with a small hole KD reflector

And I will be shimming a KD kit for the Philips 5761 in another way. Over the pedestal i will fit 2 thick washers. (they are between the roller and reflector cam)

My unibit proved to be 1-2 mm smaller so i will be continuing tomorrow.

More later, Kostas

well here is what I did.

I took 2 washers and made them to size (opened the hole just enough to fit over the Mag pedestal)

(the washers seem very high but actually sit on teh roler that is springloaded)

So and it WORKS for the Philips 5761. (though it seems that it cannot be focused that tight.(I checked with a bare reflector and the filament is curved). The cam rides now on the washers and there semms not to be any friction issues.

Glad to know what you think, Kostas
