My wife is in the market for a food processor. What features should we be looking for, good and bad? What's the best bang for the buck?
Thanks, Ted

on a side note: if you like making breads at home (or anything w/ dough, really), and don't already have a mixer that can handle dough with a hook attachment, or a bread machine, then might wanna look at a dough-capable machine (it will either say so on box). kneads in a minute and then you can let it sit to rise or whatever.

oh, been using a Braun since early 80s.

We have a good mixer, so we don't need to make bread dough in the food processor.

In my experience there isn't much in the way of bang for the buck in food processors. You either have a Cuisinart or you don't.

If you have a lot of extra income sitting around you could go with robot coupe.

The KitchenAid 11 cup is nice in that you get a lot more accessories with it.

I've had a Cuisinart 11 cup for over 10 years and have never had any problems.

well im cheap i like the little ones ya get for like 9 bucks.but im single so i like there small single serveing size.

Big machine or mini?

KitchenAid makes a nice mini (batch of herbs or make one serving of baby food out of your dinner) and a nice 11 cup machine. Or the Cuisinart ones.

Cheap usually costs more in the long run. Good only costs more up-front.
