Went to K-Mart and there they were, Ray-O-Vac Maximum "High Power Formula" C-size batteries in 8-packs for $3.59...well being no fool, I snatched up a case (boy, it was getting pretty heavy by the time I made my way to the cash registers up front) and the cashier said it might be an old price label (label was on the case, not the 8-packs) because the Duracells and Energizers of the same size were $7.97 for their 8-packs.

Well to make a long story short, she scanned one pack and it came to -- $3.59! A little less than 47¢ each after tax. These are the same batteries I have been running in the ElektroLumens' MagLite 2D/3C directdrive LS conversion for the past 30 hours and it is still making quite a bright and usable light:

So the rumors of K-Mart selling off stuff cheap in preparation for their Chapter 11 reorganization may be true after all.

I found a great deal today too! Duracell AAA Ultras 4 pack for $1.99! They are from the store "Big Lots". I was skeptical that they were out-of-date, but then I found a pack that had the expiration visible MAR 2006!

I think I will go back tommorrow because they had everything from AAA-D & Even 9v (all duracell ultra). I thought they were a pretty good deal, but now that I looked on the net I know they are!

If you live in OKC you should go get some!

KMart and Rayovac has had a deep business relationship for some time. According to Rayovac's first quarter earnings, that relationship may have cost them more than it cost KMart. KMart may not have lost all that much on Rayovac, regardless of how cheap they sell. The first quarter report is at This site.

Anyone that asks me for an explanation of all that will be politely ignored

...they alkaline?

A local Kmart has a closing store sale and I bought 2-8 packs of AA for my Surge and it came out to be $7.xx. Im gonna go back and get a NiteA Ize holster for a X5. Its $5.xx for the regular price, so im guessing around $3 after the 30-50% off.
