Kind of bored tonight, so I thought I would see what happened when I held an aspheric lens in front of a couple of different lights.

First off, for comparison sake, is my WF501D without the aspheric lens. Distance to the wall is 12 feet.

These next few are with the lens held slightly in front of the lens of the WF, and a couple are with the aspheric lens backwards (which didn't really change the outcome much).

This one almost matches the original beam, but is with the aspheric lens at just the right distance to produce a decent beam.

These next three are a cheapo 12 LED light that I have, shining through the aspheric lens. It looked really wierd in person.

Just having fun... :D

You should see this post by a guy about going outside to show beam shots, not white wall shots. He had it right on.

Ha ha, very funny. Some experiments will only work on a white wall. But you got me, breaking my own rules. :D

I took these photos after getting my first aspheric lens a few weeks ago. I was using a 3D Maglite with a Cree Q2 LED. I believe it is a 50 mm x 35 mm lens. The rocks are about 40-50 feet from the light.
