I bought one of these magnifying visors from HF:

http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=38896

It's a very handy gadget--the only problem is that it uses a really crappy molded acrylic optic that makes bad distortion in some parts of the image. I'd like to buy a better one, not necessarily glass, but just higher quality. Any suggestions?

FWIW, I don't want to buy anything else online from Harborfreight because of the insane amount of catalogs and other junk mail I've gotten since buying that visor. If junk mail bothers you, I'd seriously suggest avoiding ordering from them. It's better to buy from their brick and mortar stores if they're near you, but pay cash and don't give them your address.

My dentist uses a Donegan Optical Company OptiVISOR while performing dentistry and put me onto them a few years ago.

I used to use the OptiVISOR for working on small electronics gear, but now use it for other things as well.

It is well built and the one I have is made in USA. Mine is configured with a fold down loupe for extra magnification in one eye.
