Got batteries wet - any damage?

Not soaking wet, but I had a salad topping leak onto the 8-cell case full of Maha Powerex AA 2700 mAh cells.

It wasn't soaked but a bit got in and the cardboard area near the top of "+" bulged a bit. I don't think very much got in though. I am also not sure if any got into the vents of the "+" side.

Any advice? I rubbed them with a alcohol-soaked cotton ball, to get all the grease off, and beyond that, they are dry now.
 
Should be fine. NiMH batteries are tightly sealed as they have to withstand high internal pressures when charging. As long as you quickly cleaned them and dried them there is no reason to worry.
