Got my first Surefire yesterday.

Congratulations. The 6P is an excellent shell not only for what you have now, but also when you are ready to mod the emitter or the tailcap.

Keep a close eye on your wallet.. :)

Congrats. Best to just cancel your credit card, turn off your internet service, and never visit CPF again.

:D

It won't be your last Surefire either.

Ditto that!!
the 6P is the seed-drug, once planted it sprouts into an insane addiction. Mod-ability, lego stacking, bomb-proof reliability, P60 drop ins, and the endless supply of budget clone parts make the 6P a great first choice.

I have been very happy running a DX11836 and RCR cells in my bone stock 6P, its proven to be an extremely durable and reliable setup. I really like the spring-less negative contact, IMHO it improves the thermal cooling and electrical contact reliability.

I just wish it were typeIII anodize:D

Did you have to pick the lock to pick up your light?

Kidding!

Congrats. :) The 6P is a very nice light.

Actually its funny you said that I did have some trouble actually getting the light. First I went to the counter and waited aprox 15 minutes for someone to get the display case after trying it out I said I would buy one and they looked for one but apparently they were sold out(computer said 1 was in inventory)then they had to special order one from the distribution center which took a little over an hour for it to get to the store even though the distribution center was across the street. It took awhile to get it but it was worth the wait.

Excellent choice! The tried and true original design, and one that's easy to upgrade from the tailcap to the drop-in. I sorely doubt you'll be disappointed, and it certainly is the start of the addiction.

Now repeat after me: Malkoff. Let's say it together. I knew you could.

Based on your brief description, I'm guessing this was the Highlands Cabela's? Am I correct? Congrats on your new 6P! My first "real" flashlight was a SureFire 6PL. In less than a year, I've bought a few more too (see my signature, they are listed in order or purchase).

congradulations on the 6p. i think this is one of the best lights you can get. you lucky that stores in your area have them. i've had to buy every single light i own sight unseen. thanks to CPF i've been steered in the right direction every time.

I am new here, so I hate to be the voice of dissent. I picked up a 6P LED a couple of weeks ago as my first "real light." Paid about $95 out the door of Bass Pro Shops. After taking it home and trying it out I was a bit disappointed, hence I found you guys while searching for info online.

I bought it as a replacement to my departmentally issued Stinger DS LED, wanting something smaller with similar features. It seemed to be a good fit, with 80 lumens and an eleven hour runtime, though it wasn't rechargeable. It would also allow me to use the "Surefire" method for low-light shooting where my Stinger neccesitated the "Harries" due to its size.

I found the light to be very blue, and not nearly as bright compared to my Stinger (which is also rated at 80 lumens "typical" whatever that means). The Stinger would clearly overpower it in a simple wall test. After reading on here for a while and looking over in the marketplace, I ordered an Olight T20 and found it to be much nicer.

The Olight has multiple light levels (like the Stinger) including one that is twice as bright as the 6P LED. It also has a strobe function (like the Stinger). I do not think I will ever use the SOS feature, but it doesn't hurt anything. Its overall dimensions are smaller than the 6P, and the light, at least to my eyes, is much whiter and not nearly as blue. To top it off, even new it is almost $30 cheaper. What am I missing? The 6P isn't a bad light by any means, but it seems there are cheaper lights with good quality and more features.

FWIW, I'm not a big fan of the 6PL either. IMHO its better to upgrade the 6P to LED with a drop in.

Congrats-

Nice light, that was also my 1st light as it came with a gun mount. I have the SF LED in my 6P and it works excellent.

That is a different light than the incan 6P. I've never owned a stock Surefire LED light, I've always bought incan's and put in LED drop-in's afterwards!
