Got Pila?

To my eye, Pila has made some of the more artful looking medium sized flashlights, outside of custom and limited editions. I picked up an incandescent GL-3 a few years ago and then later learned that the non-Pila D26 LED drop-ins work in it. I got a decent 3-mode drop-in and got it running more efficiently. The anodizing is probably not as tough as HA-III, so most people probably go for a Solarforce 6P style host. But I still think the Pila wins in the looks department. While not very grippy, you can easily add a few o-rings to the body that helps solve that.

Anyone else here still running Pila flashlights (GL-2, GL-3, GL-4)?

I still have the GL3 in the glove department of my car. To me it´s not just "the looks" but the quality as well that stands for Pila´s lights. The anodizing isn´t type III, but apart from that all three lights (GL2, GL3, GL4) are beasts. I bought my GL3 back in 2006 and after I showd it to my boss he wanted one too. I ordered one for him (early 2007) and he still uses his GL3 nowadays when he´s out with his dog early in the morning or late in the evening when it´s dark outside. Noewaydas I wouldn´t get the LED switch (which I bought for my own as well as for my bosses GL3) but the regular clicky since the LED switch doesn´t work with LED dropins. My favourite is the GL2 though. I gifted mine to a good friend....so it´still nearby ;).

Pila´s marketing department really sucks I guess. Most people just don´t know about Pila and even if you do you´d have a real hard time to buy one. There´s not a single shop in the EU I´d know that carries Pila lights. Apart from ordering from Pila directly I only knew 3 north amarican dealers that offered Pila lights and at least two of them not anymore (jsburleys, fenix-tactical).
