Got the Meterman... how to use it?

A short time ago I posted for advice on which digital light meter to buy, and thanks to lots of helpful CPF'ers I settled on the Meterman. It came in the mail today! Woohoo!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Now how do I use it? Or more spefically, what is the proper way to read one of my flashlights' lux level? Does the probe need to be positioned at a certain "official" distance from the light source, etc.?
