got the L4 in the mail today, looks pretty good. I dont have the old model to compare it to but from the description others have given it, the new one follows suit. The beam looks similar to a 6PLED only brighter hotspot and much more spill. But as always beautiful SF build quality. I'll get some pics up

Oh nice, where did you get it? Seems like SF is trickling out their 09 models. I don't have any lights that are known for flooding. I'm thinking for my next light to be a SF flooder. lovecpf

i am waiting for my repaired L4 to get back to me from Surefire.

would really love to see a comparison in performance of the old and new L4.

maybe if i have some pocketmoney left i will get the new version, just to compare and to sell it after again.

The L4 uses the KL4 head, as I recall. Any idea if the KL4 can be driven by two 3.7v rechargeables? :poof: or ok?

Bad idea....I blew a driver on my LUX V KL4 doing this.

I think the driver is different in the Seoul version, but still not a good idea...unfortunately

Is the new L4 more of a spot and less of a total flood than the older L4?

FWIW, I got a new Malkoff M60 MC-E, and its way floody liike the old L4, but its maybe 3-4x as bright to my eyeballs.

I wonder if the driver is the same as the old one? If the LED is driven at the same current?

i dont know whether I ll go for the L4 or not. the distributor here cant even tell me when its going to be available in the UK.

Plus the bluish tint of the SSC.. its quite a put off really. If it turns out to be like the P60L.. gosh horrible tint really..

When the SSC P4 is driven hard it actualy looks nice it doesn't look blue but more of a pure white, the tint resembles a HID car headlight to my eyes anyways.
The reason the tint on the P60L was so blue was because it was only driven at 350mA for the longer runtimes.

i see... that is good to hear. at least i have some of my faith back so to speak.

hmm im just waiting for the ownert of this thread to start posting up pictures then i finally will decide..

even the Pelican M6 3W LED, 180 lumens its not available yet in the UK. But its definitely cheaper for me than the L4 since Pelican allowed me to pay the difference between the Pelican M6 3W LED and my currently own M6 LED Luxeon 1.
