I am just wondering, if there is a GPS tracking device that allows you to track your belongings (car, briefcase etc.). Bet you guys had seen some movies where someone place something small in the "money case" and they are able to track the case to the BG's hideout.

This device will be used to track my briefcase.

One quick do it yourself GPS tracking gadget is a simple cell phone. Almost all cell phones have GPS capabilities built in. Verizon Wireless has a GPS feature called Chaperone service. It allows you to track a cell phone via your own phone or a PC.

I've seen GPS devices that are small enough to fit into a USB flash drive, but they are more like "black boxes" in that they record location data but there's no way for it to be wirelessly transmitted back to you. It's up to you to retrieve the device to access the data.

Sure they make them, but you arent going to like the prices.
Most cant tell you in real time where they, they are actually loggers,
that will log where they have been, and you can later download that to your computer to look at it.
Those, are naturally cheaper.
Here are a few trackers I found.

Thanks.

SimplyJ i can't use the recommended service, it is avail to some parts of US but not to canada :(

jtice thanks. I think i have to go with the real time because if a briefcase is stolen, you need to track it down. Loggers wouldn't work here.

Seems like i came to a dead end. Some realtime has monthly subscription and most cost a bomb.

Slightly off topic; there was a service a few years back where your cell phone had a buddy list that would alert you whenever a buddy was near the same cell tower as you. I guess that idea didn't catch on. I'm hoping eventually all our cell phones with have built-in GPS mapping, and be able to show on the display the realtime location of everyone programmed in your directory. Of course there would have to be a "privacy" option too.

hi, i get a new gps tracking system for my car, and its work well, i make it with my own efforts, i hide the adapter in the car, which is not easy to find, i am very Happy, Finally i Done It.

Welcome to CPF, Drake123 :)

This thread is 5 years old, and the technology has moved on quite a way. I'll close it now; if someone would like to start a new thread on the topic, they may do so.
