Hi,
I am quite new to the LED scene and I have been looking around the forum for reference to recommended minimum lv(mcd) for outdoor LEDs.
For example I believe that a set of Traffic Lights tend to work more on a required minimum Luminence Intensisty. So its important that the Red, Green lights can be seen by drivers from a distance approaching the lights. As apposed to a torch which works more on lux, which if I have read and understand correctly is aimed at throwing light out to illuminate the way.
So using the Traffic Light analogy above if I wanted to see a point of light in the distance (LED) does anyone have any experience on the required minimum lv MCD required to view the LED for example in summer sunshine i.e: high noon, late afternoon facing into the sun etc.
I have tried to lookup this information on the web but I am coming across spurious data some claiming 300mcd others 3000mcd upto 40,000mcd.
Also does colur of the LED play a part i.e is Red, better than Green, Blue, Amber etc.
Any advice would be welcome.
Dazzler......
