Hooking up the Sat to the TV via something other than Coaxial cable will help greatly!

The other reason is that a HD set that's displaying a SD picture will show all of the bandwidth limitations of SD. When you look at a low-def signal with a hi-def set of eyes, you're gonna notice a lot of artifacts.
