Hi guys! First time poster here and new to the flashlight world. I'm hoping to get a good headlamp and thought I'll ask the experts on here for some advise. My expectations are, Great build quality and if possible glass lens or something similar with projector lens. I will greatly appreciate all help and suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Hi Retro50, perhaps it may narrow things down if you state your budget, battery type, use for this light etc? As it is there are loads of potential options and it helps folks know what you need if you could be a little bit more specific?

I have been using a Fenix headband coupled with a FourSevens Mini ML (formerly known as Quark Mini 123) for the past 2 years for hunting and hiking. It runs on CR123 primaries. The whole rig is pretty light weight and I find the burn times to be excellent. The light doesn't have good throw if that's what you want in your headlight. It is more of a flood beam. Here's a link to the Nutnfancy review of the rig:

One of my Favourites was the Spark ST6.
Now i have the Zebralight H31 which works very good and is very small:-)
Before a few Weeks i get the new Spark SX5 in NW.
This is the best Headlamp for me.....especially because you can use "normal Batteries"
The Beam is great and the Balance between Spot and Spill great

Thanks for the great suggestions. I'm leaning towards ones that can take rechargeable batteries and I have about $100-150 more or less budget. My use will be primarily around house and some duty on lighting dark spots when working on cars. Thanks again.

I have a discontinued Coast model similar to the current http://www.coastportland.com/hl7-led-headlamp.htm

Mine has a little lever instead of the red thing up top. Basically, this is a rheostat light with adjustable focus and I absolutely love the tilt function. I threw away my other headlamps once I got this one and played around with a bit. Mine came with a belt holster that I simply use to hold it in a backpack.

Mine has lasted me through two storms and three camping trips without a battery change.

My .02c, FWIW.

Its about $20 on eBay. It will go from a super wide flood to a tiny smoking hot spot with some exaggerating.
For the price you cant beat this headlamp. This thing will light up an entire buss bright as day from 400 feet away. It last 4 to 9 hours on a single charge. Search ebay for "T6 LED Zoomable focus Headlamp" and look for the one that looks like this headlamp. Its only a plastic lens though. Be careful you dont get the one that takes 4 AA Because alkaline sucks and so does rechargeable AA. You want the one that uses two 18650.

good budget!

for Your application - a typical one for headlamps and not needing any projector lens or focusing beam, btw - it goes down to the best headlamps at the moment:
ZEBRALIGHT.

H51 ... for AA cells,
H600w ..18650 cells.

Fenix HP-11 is what I use every day. You can't go wrong with this light.
I have 8 AA Eneloop XX it only uses 4 but I like the back-up.
The above is well within your budget. :)
