The first link is the CrystalVision Ultra, which is a blue-coated bulb intended to make your light look "more white". Avoid these.

The second link is the X-treme Power, which is an un-coated bulb (except for the very tip, to ensure light output compliance), and is perhaps the best upgrade bulb in the business for most applications. Get these.

Alright I'll take the recommendation but I'm curious what is exactly wrong with having a blue-coated bulb? (aside from compliance)

Hey joe7dust

This link from Daniel Stern explains the science behind why blue coated halogen bulbs are just not optimal if you value best seeing performance out of your headlights.

Long story short, the blue coating is a filter, that removes the easiest light for your eye to see by from the halogen bulbs output.

Alright thanks for that info. A lot of people seeem to like the Xtreme so I'll spend the extra $8 on them.

I have been happy with Xtreme Power H4 bulbs on my motorcycle. If I was buying H4 bulbs now I'd go for the Xtreme Vision, but it was not out yet when I bought my H4's and I am very pleased with the Xtreme Power.

I've got the XTreme Power 9003s in the Previa. When one of them goes, I'm going to get the XTreme Vision (maybe 3 pairs, in case they stop making those)-- but right now the XTreme Power are really just that much better than standard.

You can try Osram Nightbreaker. They are as good as the Xtreme Vision!

These are the best 2 types of headlamps.

Re: AW: Headlight comparison

Also the Xtreme Vision/Xtreme Power is better than the Nightguide.

9007 Xtreme Vision exists, see here

I'm going to go ahead and pull the trigger on the XtremePower unless anyone can provide a reason why I should spend $8 more on the XtremeVision

Just keep in mind that with the increased performance of the XTV vs the XTP, you'll also get shortened bulb life, so keep a spare. It's a simple fact of that it takes to get the filament so precise and luminant. The performance difference may be very slight as well. Granted, if you want the *best* (in terms of performance, not in lifetime or price/performance ratio), then the XTV is the way to go.

Re: AW: Headlight comparison

Already bought the XTP, but just for giggles does the XTV have the same blue tip?

Would be good to see a comparison picture with only one bulb changed. Tough to truly see the difference on a camera, but better than nothing. It can actually be good to take the picture against a garage door or wall.

I am looking to change lights on at least one vehicle. Would do both, but one literally requires taking the front end apart to change a bulb. 30-60 minutes and not possible at the side of the road! So that will stay with regular long lasting bulbs.
