I put in a coal furnace 2 yrs. ago.I wanted to monitor the air temp at the ducts so I bought a indoor outdoor thermometer and use the outdoor sensor in one of the ducts. With the oil and coal both going at the same time the sensor can go as high as 135F.Whats the best AAA batteries for this high temp application?
THANKS DON

lithium AAAs probably offer the best at that temperature. Energizer is the only major brand made, while there are other non name brands you can find perhaps for cheaper if you order enough to cover shipping.

Hello Big beam,

This cell fits your requirements.

If you can keep the battery compartment below 100 F, you can use normal cells. As you can see, the high temperature cells don't have much capacity, and they tend to be a little "strange." I would recommend trying to lower the battery compartment temperature first.

Another thought is to pick up a bunch of the most inexpensive cells you can find on eBay and just plan on throwing them out as they go bad.

If you don't want to fiddle with all this, then go with the Energizer L92 AAA lithium cells. In higher temperature applications, I would suggest that you stay away from the clones.

Thanks guys.I think I'll go the silver fox route.Just get a load of US made carbon zinc batts and pitch them out as they die, or maybe to be safe pitch'em out after 30 days.
