I'm new to the LED world and the density of the info here is considerable. Can I ask two questions for a poll to help in my search for the perfect EDC light?

1)I want you to pick just one light for EDC carry, what would it be?

2)What LED are you most looking foward to when it comes out?
Thanks.
Brian

1. Surefire E2e or the most economical UK 2L

2. 5watt luxeon star

1) Look thru the posts, so many good choices. For myself Arc AAA always on the keychain so if just one that would be it.

2) That's easy, the luxeon 5 watt.

Hi Brian, the AAA Arc always wins this question. The Ultra might end up giving it a run for the money although it is larger and not as comfortable in the pocket.

The E-2 is the typical winner of the incadesants.

I personaly like the Photon 3 for it`s multi brightness levels.

Yea, you guys are right I change my answer. ARC AAA for the EVERY day carry. It is the only light that I truly carry EVERY day.

1) Arc AAA...no wardrobe, CPF member, man, woman, or child is complete without one.

2) Arc LS Verson 2, not so excited about version 3. In fact that's a lie...Verson 3 with dimmer for $150, that's the true answer to #2.

1) you need an Arc AAA
2) you will need another Arc AAA after you see how small and how bright for how long it is.
3) you will buy a lot of Arc AAA

Looks like you are going to get the Arc-AAA for EDC.
As to the upcoming and eagerly awaited, it will be the 5w Luxeon or the Surefire A2.

I think the Arc AAA, white led or the LE is a premier EDC...I use mine at least several times per day. If you are not used to led's, remember, they do not project like an incandescent bulb, but are truly amazing for night adapted eyes. The LE puts out a mini blast of useable light in a TINY package.

Depending on what you can carry, the Minimag with Newbeam modification is a stellar product. 8 hours of regulated output in a very durable/sturdy package. It is fully regulated, so output is totally equal, then a red led comes on to tell you you need to change the batteries. It has 3 led's that give good light for household and out door use. Check out the led museum site and look around other's sites, like Quickbeam's...everyone loves the opalec.
The E2 is a great light for intense light...75 min runtime, not regulated. I have one, but don't use it much now.
THe luxeon Star mods that Dat2zip, Lambda and Elektrolumens are doing are just g.d amazing...I can't help myself from buying them.

Welcome to the Forum

I'm a bit biased but...
EMPOWERTORCH BT2 with cyan LED's It's the torch everyone's talking about over here. It has a very bright beam for its size, and lasts for ages on a set of Duracell AAA's!
As to other people's creations, I do like some of Electrolumens' finely built torches, and some of the Luxeon equipped models he's devised.

I carry the ARC AAA and the LS1 every day. If forced to choose only one, it would be the ARC LS1.

I look forward to the 5 watt ACR LS3.

Just one EDC? Well, it would depend on what you "want" or "expect" out of a light--max illumination, long run time or a combination. Size is another consideration.

1) If I had to choose just one (heaven forbid!), it would be the SF E2. (Then I would "sneak in" a Photon III (or Arc AAA) on my keychain--the Photon is so small, you'll hardly notice it among your keys.)

2) Most anticipated LED is the 5W luxeon...

Depending on price point Scorpion or Uke 2L are more economical but not the quality of Surefire E2.
Arc AAA LE for edc because 5 hours of runtime is a long time, though I agree if the size factor doesn't bother you the CMG ultra may be its replacement, I don't have one...yet.
The other factor in your EDC choice is where do you think you'll be using it the most. An Infinity is a great light but not unless it is DARK.
