Hello all a few line to explain my predicament, I want to convert my Deben Tracer Max 50W hunting/lamping light to an LED light . At the moment with this 50W bulb it can throw a good 400m beam for hunting .

The lamp has a 3.5” diameter smooth reflector that is 2” deep it has an ½” gap in the bottom where the halogen bulb fits in.

My knowledge of light building is nil so be ready for my many silly questions if this can be done.

questions
1/ What would be the best LED to use to get the same or if possible better performance of my original lamp.
2/ Can I use more than one LED in a group or cluster to increase light output .
3/ Can I use red LED’s in conjunction with white to throw a red light so saving me from flipping the red filter off and on .
4/ Will I need complex electronic circuitry for connecting the LED to the battery , I was going to use one of the 4400mAh 7-8.4V battery packs as power source .
5/ Where is the best place to source the components needed
All advice would be greatly appreciated
Regards …Neil

most likely no leds will throw as far as your haloen bulb using your reflector, also heat managment wise, those halogen lights are horoble to use with leds.
you can use red led along with white, you will need a driver, or two.
you'll be better off with hid conversion, hids are close to leds efficiany wise, but can be used in your reflector, and will throw as far or even more than halogen.
if you insist on led, you better off building the led light from a scratch.
