Help finding a light.

So as I am a flashlight fanatic my brother has given me the task of finding the perfect light for him to serve a specific purpose.

He owns a few strip clubs, and also is manager/tour manager for several local bands. He needs a light that he can use around the clubs, and to light the way when band members go on stage and he is swapping out guitars mid-set, and other similar tasks. So he needs something that is not very bright, and has either a flood beam, or a very wide spot with a lot of spill. Some other criteria: It has to run on AA's, preferably one. It must have a pocket clip. It can only have one mode so there is no possibility of accidental bright light. It must have either a momentary switch that twists to constant on, or a foreward clicky. He will often need the momentary while having something in his other hand. It must be extremely reliable and very well made. While cost is not an option, under $100 would be preferred.

I have brought many of my lights to the clubs and to shows to find something that would work. There were a few that met some of the criteria, but not all. The closest that one came was my Peak Kilimanjaro with 7 clustered snow white LEDs. Nice smooth wide beam at about 10-15 lumens I would guess. But it is a twisty w/o a clip. If it had a momentary tailcap and pocket clip it would be absolutely perfect.

Any suggestions?

It's kind of disappointing that no one has responded to you. When you first posted, I was sure you'd like a McGizmo. I only have the LS 20. It's got a VERY nice low mode and its UI is exactly what you've specified. BUT there's a high mode that comes on with a harder press. I then looked at his sapphire but that little beauty doesn't have momentary. I think I've found something that runs off of one AAA:

Enrique will start taking preorders in early August. In the meantime, I'd suggest a zebra light. Sure, it has two other power levels but it's UI has no memory! This means it always comes on in low mode, which is annoying for most of my uses but might work perfectly for your bro. It switches to medium and high if you hold the reverse clicky button. I own the H30, which runs on a CR123, but they make AA versions as well, even one with a red LED! If you can get over the twist lock on requirement, it's a great alternative. I've never gotten a light with so much versatility. You can hang it on a lanyard, attach it with a clip, put it on a headband all without tools! Give it a look:

Sometimes you can snag one on the marketplace, but I've never seen an H30 or H501 (AA version) on there for too long. The low is barely perceptible in a dimly lit room.

I hope your brother appreciates your gift more than mine did. He lost the D10 I got him! :oops:

Streamlight Microstream could work but runs on 1xAAA instead. There's a review of the light here.

Get a Jetbeam Jet I Pro v3.0 and program all 3 modes to the level he wants, that way no accidental activation of bright light.

Has a pocket clip too, runs of 1xAA or 14500s if you want more 'oomph' (not applicable here though) and best of all, if he ever needs more light, its there waiting to be programmed.

Get that, and change the reverse clicky to a forward clicky for an additional $6.95 and you're all set, programming is also easily done with a forward clicky.

Liteflux LF2XT!

Can be programmed to 1 mode to whatever brighness between low and high, has a very low Low, and runs on an AAA. Floody beam, quiet clicky. Only issue : May be too small perhaps.

The LF5XT is the model running on AA, larger, but it doesn't have a clip, unfortunetaly...

Other option : Quark AA tactical. That one has two prorammable modes, they can be programmed to the same brightness or 2 different ones. Very low moon mode, nice low and medium.

I think the Quark might be the closest of all these, and it was actually one of the lights that I showed him, but he was put off by having to program it. Same with my NiteCores. And he really likes the flood beam of the Peak better. He actually has a Zebra Light H50 that I gave him, and he uses it when tearing down b/t sets, it would be perfect other than the way the switch and modes work.

So at this point I am considering sending one of my Kilimanjaros to a modder and having a tailcap and clip put on it.

My bro was also really impressed with the piston drive on my NiteCore D10, so another option is sending that to a modder and having a clip added and new emitter and electronics for it.

Forward click. Only use the amount of light needed. I have a 123 and the tint on the warms is very pleasing.

You could program the two modes of the Quark onto the same setting.
