Need to buy a few lights to replace current lights that just don't do the job. These are for war games, orienteering etc, and lights are often lost, so cheap one are what we use. Current ones are 55 lumens, that are OK, but not great, it was the $5 price that made us buy them.
I found some Dorcy 100 lumen lights ($9), that are bright enough, but are a tad to long at 5 inches. These generally go in a 9mm mag pouch.
Needs are,
Under 4 1/2 inch but over 3 3/4
100 lumen or so...
Not over 1 1/4 inch at widest point unless head is under 1 1/4 inches long. 1 1/4 inch wide will fit into mag pouch, so head can stick out 1 1/4 inches and be short enough to close flap and can be a tad wider.
Uses AA or AAA with a long run time. Will consider 123 battery lights, will just have to order all new batteries.
Any suggestions?

About a year ago, maybe a little more I bought a couple of 3 AAA lights from homeDepot for about $8 each. Maybe a little less. IIRC they were labeled Cree and about 100 lm. They are a smaller emitter, so they are decent throwers for little lights. I don't know if they are carrying them currently, but it might be worth a shot.

Of course you can buy better lights, and take a deposit on each light, with the warning... if you lose it, it's yours! ;)

I don't know what their runtimes are, but you can also teach them how to reload. I.E. how to change batteries.

Amen!

Hard to beat a Sipik 68, or similar "clone," as the best "workhorse," low cost, 1 x AA flashlight to date.

Highly recommended for the applications you describe. Size may vary slightly from model to model, but typically, they are just a bit shorter than 4 inches, and are less than 1 inch in diameter. They also have a relatively robust pocket clip, and they boast a "zoom" function that allows you to focus the beam from spot to flood.

They are readily available "everywhere" on the internet. If you are willing to order 30 at one time, they can easily be had for less than $4 per piece. If you are buying only one, try not to spend any more than $8.

And, they are a very tough, relatively bright, usually reliable, and "nice" little low cost flashlight. (Remember, of course, you are only paying $8 for the things. So, they may not be the best flashlight you have ever seen, but for what they are, at least in my opinion, they are an excellent value.)

(They run fine on 14500 Li-Ion, and are quite bright, if you are "into" that battery chemistry. However, I believe you will also find them plenty "bright enough" even driven by a cheap Alkaline AA. Of course, Eneloops are the "best way to go.")

For that price and size range, it is exactly what you want.

my vote is also for the" Sipik clone"..in this area of the country nothing in the local stores can touch it for less than 15- 20 dollar..

Ive purchased mine at random by low price from about "every"dealer my best price was 5.55 w/ship..my worst 8.40 (I really wanted that RED one)..

If you should lose one ..."nothing" lost to you...and make someones day when they find it...

I kinda hate to do a +1 but what the heck. A sk68 clone at 5-8 bucks a pop screams out "buy me" for your situation.
