I recall seeing a Surefire light mounted on a pistol that had an aluminum body in HA natural that seemed to have 3 cells in it side by side, with an early M3 head attached to it. Does anyone remember what this light was called?

This depends upon which pistol it was for. If it was for a Glock, for example, and had a constant on switch as well as the slim-line switch the model would have been the M111C.

Here's an M103 on a springfield XD45.
Most are natural HAIII.
This is a rare black M103 with removable pressure switch.

Does it look like this light?
