Hey there ppl,

it's me again... First up sry for my english, I'm not from a english speaking country. I need a new flashlight. I'm 13 years old (almost 14 :D) and I need the flashlight for outdoors (like when I'm comming home and it's dark, etc.). In like fields which are dark or also forests. Sometimes also at home maybe or at camping. It should have a nice bright light and maybe the light should reach like 100m or so... I could pay like 70€ (70 Euro=97,69900 US-Dollar so it's like almost 100 bucks but would be better if less).
I heard good things about Fenix or EagleTec e.g.
And I also would like to put some NiMHs in it that they're rechargable...
What do you think of the E20, the LD2 or the L2D (Premium)?

Thanks and I hope for fast answers :D

Cya,
Desperad0s!

For AA powered lights, the two best choices for outdoors use and long throw imho are Fenix TK20 and Eagletac P100A2. Both are well within your budget.

my vote goes to fenix tk20 aswell. warmer tint is nicer in outdoors, green and brown colors come out more "normal" looking than on most white tint leds.

2 AA, long runtime (+10hours) built like a tank. long distance thrower. rubber grip handle so its softer and warmer to hold if its cold outside.

ld20 is smaller and has lower modes and those blinking modes too.
eagletac p100a2 seems to be good value too. and is like tk20, easy to use. on/off and 2modes by twisting the head.

The TK20 seems like a good choice and so does the Eagletac P100A2. Just re-affirming the suggestions above. The P100 should throw better but minus the nice warm colour of the tk20.

The Eagletac "100 series" lights are probably your most cost effective option. If you want to use CR123's or 18650 batteries, then the T100C2 is a good option. However, for AAs the P100A2 is a very good option as well

You should probably also consider the TK20, which is apparently a very durable light, with a very thick battery tube. It should be stronger and more durable than the E20.

By the way, your English is very good ( i know some people born in America that can't write as well...). Just out of curiosity, what is your native language?

Thank you ppl for your answers...
after I read some reviews the TK20 seems to be very nice :p

Well I'm now thinking of these flashlights: Fenix TK20, Fenix LD20, Fenix L2T V2.0, Fenix L2D Q5 and Eagletac P100A2.
Which one would you pick for outdoors?

To Mjolnir, I'm born in Germany but I also speak serbian/croatian/bosnian (my mother is montenegrin), French, English of course :D and a little bit of Italian...

The TK20 might be better for outdoors since it has a warmer tint. Warmer tints make objects outdoors seem more "natural looking," since the green and brown of the trees and the ground reflect more yellow and less blue. The TK20 has a rubber grip, which may be better for camping, but I think that would be more personal preference.

The three Fenix lights are basically the same - the L2D Q5 is the old LD20 and the L2T v2 is a stripped down L2D Q5 (or a slimmer TK20)... so I'd recommend the LD20 out of the three.

Between the remaining three it's mostly personal preference - all three are great lights all around. The P100A2 has the best output and is the cheapest. The TK20 has the best color rendition and has a rubber grip. And the LD20 has more modes and the longest track record.

That's a lot of languages...
Lol, I speak mandarin, english, bahasa melayu, and a host of other chinese dialects albeit not very well.

Anyways, getting the LD20 for a friend today. Solid choice if you need the low low. The tk20 and the p100 has a very bright low mode.

If size is a factor like other members mentioned I would also suggest the Fenix LD20 or Eagletac P100C2.

I would think if your gonna be using it for that many different things you may want to be able to put in a pocket or in a holster.

I see that you are leaning towards the 2xAA configuration, that is a great balance between runtime and output and will also fit nicely in your hand and be less likely to be lost.

I recommend the TK20 as it has a yellow rubber grip for easy handling and visibility when looking for it in your pack. Also, although blinding white LED light is great, the tint of the TK20 is better for colour rendition.

Case in point: i recently did a simple mod to my MAglite 3D, changed the lens to glass, put in a 6D bulb and powering it using 9xAA eneloops, its bright and it uses and incan bulb, when i shine it down from 12 floors up at a path, it clearly defines everything. But when i use a similarly high powered LED light, the white does not clearly define things.

I will try and take some shots tonight and post them up so you can see the difference and then make your choice.

As much as i like the Fenix TK20,

i've never bought one.

Reason:

It doesn't have a Low mode. :(

I'd really want something Lower than 40 or so Lumens.

Take a look at the new Quark line of flashlights,

I would go for the Fenix TK20.

Fenix LD20, L2D, L2T and Eagletac P100A2 are good choices too, but the warm tinted LED is really a lot better for serious outdoor use. A little bit of rain/fog/snow and the warm tinted light performs MUCH better than higher rated cool white LED's. Cool whites seem to light the snow/fog/rain, while warm whites light the thing you're pointing at.

Don't bother with lithium or Li-ion cells, lithium primaries are ridiculously expensive here in Europe and Li-ion cells are dangerous if you don't know how to handle them and you can only order them online or in some specialised shops. It's not worth the hassle when there are so many AA lights available.

Thanks also Tora for the recommendation but I think I'll choose a Fenix after I heard so much good stuff about them...

And thanks Burgess, I had some flashlights before but now this will be my first really good one so i'm getting into the "game" now, too :D

And of course thanks to all others but you were many people so I can't name every single one :D but you know who I mean. Well thank you all for your answers but now I'm gonna do my last decission...
TK20 and LD20... But I kinda tend to the TK 20 and maybe I'll get a E01, too :D

Oh a TK20 and an E01. Good choices!

You will shortly be hooked forever but at least you are off to a quality start.
:welcome:

Isn't it illegal to provide flashahol to minors?
Getting young children addicted is wrong...
