Hi i have three LEDs that id like to make brighter. It's in my car so i was wondering if its possible to cut the wire and attach a resistor of some sort between the wires because i cannot actually open up the component and fiddle around, i only have access to the wire to attach something. Will a resistor work? If so what type?

oh right, sorry i'm not very tech savvy with these things. So what are my options?

You have to open up the component and change the Led, but what component are you talking about?

pretty vague....if you have LEDs that you want brighter, you need to replace them with better LEDs and then change the power source to meet the specs of these new LEDs, not really a simple process for not tech savvy person, but none to difficult either...with a few more details (where are these LEDs and how much power are they getting) we could prolly be much more helpful, also the mods will most likely move this to the automotive lighting section...unless of course you need a high powered LED flashlight to complete your automotive work, in which case i would recommend the quark123 or nitecore EX10 they are compact enough for the famous "teeth carry" whilst doing the upside-down under the dash wire splice job:eek:

Ok well its actually a side mirror with an indicator on it. The indicator lights are obviously LEDs but aren't bright enough in the day time anyway... I dont ecxactly know what the power specs are it doesn't say

faze: is the "indicator" a turn signal and is it in sync with other turn signals? If so leave it alone!

I think this needs to move to the Automotive section.

I'm sure other members there will advise you against trying to make these turn signal lights very much brighter, as this could be dangerous and/or illegal.

What you are describing is possible, however it may be a little bigger of a first project than you want to take on. Is it a nice car or an old beater?

adding resistors will not make it brighter.

there may be ways to, but you need much more specific information than just "three LEDs".
