Hello

Im in the market for a new torch and would like for your suggestions which i should get as im not sure whats new out there. I want it to run off AA batteries as I have dozens of brand new Eneloops sitting around.

I have previously had a Led Lenser P14 which I liked for its tight focus and beem throw. I sold that in search of a superior light and ended up buying a Fenix TK40, that torch was definately brighter and better in many ways but I didn't like its unadjustable focus and charging 8 batteries became a PITA.

So I have thinking about buying a Led lenser M14 this time for £65 gbp. My priorities are beem throw/tight focus, brightness, portability, and a budget of £70 max.

Has anyone any suggestions for me please?

Thank you

Hi wildthing, welcome to CPF. I just got my Zebra SC51 which offers 200 lumens from 1 x AA cell for 55 minutes and has a number of other intensity modes as well. I also got the Eagletac P20A2 MKII. Both have good throw and the Eagletac in particular throws, from what I learnt, better than many 2 x AA's and has a very high lux. Lux basically = throw and lumens = the total amount fo light which includes at the sides (spill) so a light saying high lumens does not guarantee throw (it may be a flood beam). The Zebra and ET were picked after many hours on CPF. The Eagletac offers 240 lumens for 1.5 hrs and has six drop in modules if you want to upgrade including a module with the new XML LED in it. The Eagletac also has a strobe, beacon and sos which are hidden away until you need them. These are both great lights and worth reading up on. The more you read the more you will learn and hopefully make an educated buy. I did a write up on both these lights 2 pages into the forum but are unsure how to make a link to that place. Just look for 'Zebra SC51 and Eagletac P20A2 MKII write up. Another place to go for info is Selfbuilts web site for great product reviews. http://flashlightreviews.ca/
and for my write up review I think this may do it ..........http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?314928-Zebra-SC51-and-EagletacP20A2-MKII-write-up
