Does the E2e or the 6P have the better spot at distance.
Is there any big differance besides the material that they are made from in the 6P and the G2,I would figure that the 6Ps fit and finnish are better but is the quality of light differant.

I can answer part of that. The 6P has a lock-out tail cap, unlike the G2. I also believe that the 6P has a better lense, than the G2, although I am not completely positive. Distance wise, I can not tell much difference from my G2s and my E2e.

Hope this helps,
I'm sure others can help here also.

Thanks,if someone hear doesn't have a E2e or 6P to sell me I will get a 6P off Ebay tomarrow.

the 6P will throw further than the E2e, as it has a slightly tighter hotspot due to its larger reflector. the 6P and the G2 both come with lexan lenses, but in the event the lens of either is damaged, the lens of the 6P can be changed but a new G2 bezel would have to be purchased /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

My understanding was that you can change the lens on a G2, but that it takes a spanner wrench that most people do not have. Can anyone tell me if that is correct?

jhereg: the lens on a G2 is secured with a screw-in nylon retaining ring, which is in turn secured by loctite. the lens can be changed out, but it requires more hassle than some are willing to undertake /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

If this is your first Surefire and you don't intend to buy any more buy the E2e!

While the 6P/G2 will throw a little bit further, the E2e is tons more compact and smaller.

Until you put them side by side you really can't understand how much easier it is to carry the E2e.

Get the E2e. It's awesome. It's sleeker and sexier than the 6P/G2 and if you ever get tired of it you can put a KL4 on it.

Very true! Although I like my G2Z for the throw, it is the E2e that I commissioned to be my official EDC (everyday carry) light. It is compact enough for me to pocket it wherever I go and the power is much more than any 2 cell light of this size even if the batteries are near exhaustion.

I have the E2e, several G2's, a G2Z, and my latest SF, a 9P. The E2e DEFINITELY sees the most carry time, due to its combination of size, output, HA finish, clip, and the ability to make people say "I can't believe how much light that thing puts out!".

E2E-HA:

How does the HA stand up to EDC use? Is it a tough as they claim?
I have noticed that SF is selling off the gun metal grey versions, and up here in Canada I can only get the HA version. Noticed also that the HA has a hex outlined bezel, and some literature claims it has a pyrex lens;True? Does the hex bezel affect pocket carry?, i.e. dig into your body/leg/... at all?
You guys have me wanting an E2E-HA!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

The SureFire HA stands up very well to EDC use.
Yes, it is as tough as they claim from my experience.
SureFire have made the E2e in a number of coloured finishes. For EDC, natural HA is the most durable though.

The E2e-HA does indeed have a hexagonal anti-roll bezel feature and does indeed have a coated (anti-reflective)tempered Pyrex [glass] lens.

The E2e-HA hex bezel has never caused an EDC problem. The balance of the E2e is such that in hangs down inside your pocket when pocket-clipped and is hardly noticable in my experience.

get the E2e! you will save yourself some money because once the HA3 finish grows on you you'll lose interest for the 6P and the G2. i have 5 different 2cell surefires my e2e is hands down favorite.

Al & Sidespill,

Thanks for the informative reply it is appreciated!
I am leaning towards the e2eHA since it is for summer EDC. I just can't get my head wrapped around the color; In the 2004 SF catalogue, page 45 last paragraph, it states that the finish is "...mil-spec hard anodize, natural gray in color..." I have always understood that the HA turns things kinda greenish, not gray. Is this a subtle change for the 2004 models (HA..."gray")or did I miss something? Or maybe it depends on the ambient lighting used to view the finish? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

Maybe I just need to go visit my supplier and eyeball the thing myself!! (yea right.. go visit?? and not buy something?? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif)

techmedic: the tint on non-dyed HA parts varies a lot. on some HA surefires i have it is more brown whilst others are more green. if it helps all the new surefires in HA that i've seen are more green than anything else /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Good point. Perhaps SF is now tinting the HA models with gray to improve the color consistency. If so, then I will wait until the greenish HA's have been replaced by new stock gray HA's. Anyone have some inside information regarding this??? or is this just wishful thinking...

It varies from grey-brown through slate-grey to grey-green. It's natural and the HA shade depends on many factors. That I'm aware of there has been no change in performance to create more colour-matched parts. SureFire still Hard Anodise to Mil Spec rather to colour-match.
