Wasn't sure were to put this as it's totally unrelated to torches.

I'm fixing a butane lighter and had to put a new wire on the peizoelectric thing because the old one was damaged and the spark jumped to the damaged bit of the wire instead of were it should have, hence the lighter wouldn't light. I wrapped some electrical tape around were I soldered the new bit of wire on to insulate it and now have another problem, the spark jumps through the electrical tape. Any way to insulate it well enough to stop this happening? I put loads of tape on and it still jumps through it.

one other thing you could try is dipping the connection in something like silicone caulk that would seal it

You might be able to use a length of tubing. It can be slit length wise and slipped on the wire through the slit. Small tubing will hold its shape and stay in place. You can find small tubing at R/C hobby shops. You could use peristaltic tubing the catch is working in a lab or have a friend to get you a length.
