Does anyone know how to stop these lanterns from loose swinging after being used multiple times? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

i have the same question.
after about 1 year use, it has really loosened up to the point where it doesnt stay open well.

tried tightening a screw on the back, but it didnt help.

any ideas?

Bob

Yeah, i tried to tighten two screws right by the hinge, but that didn't help, although i noticed there are two tabs where it folds, propping it open at about an inch, so that will wear down some, but there's nothing else i see that will wear out really.

hmmm, i might have to try taking one apart to see if there is a simple fix.

Bob

I took it apart by taking out the 4 screws at the hinge, but i see no reason as to why it flops around.....so, if anyone could inform me, i'd be most happy, along with Bob.

Since you have it apart, is it possible to place one layer of clear tape wherever to take care of the looseness?

I haven't seen the design but if there is a hinge *pin* you could try stuffing a small O ring in there to tighten the gap and would insert a friction surface to slow things down or even take a soldering iron and melt plastic to make the hinge tighter somehow.
