Im working on my first mod, an SNII. I was just wondering how much of the cam on the reflector you have to cut off?? all the way to the curved part? If anyone has any pics of a properly cut Mag reflector, that'd be great! Thanks!!

it's only a sn2 if you're mr bulk /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

yes, the entire cam needs to be removed. right up to the back of the reflector.

I removed all of it and on the tightest focus there's a black hole. Should I remove a little more? Maybe file a couple milimeters off?

yup yup
kongfu has it right, the black hole is "normal"
it will always be there on your tightest focus, and that is because of how the emitter is made, from 4 dies. You need PMR or one of darky's bubbled mag reflector (forgot what those are called, it is orange peel type)

The black hole is for the sacrileg naming it a SNII /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Back it off and play around some - some emitters have that black hole some have it much less to being almost not there - the writerigth or sputtered reflectors should help though.

If you go **below** the best focal point with the reflector a black hole will always show up, no matter what, so maybe you are beyond the tightest focus already and need to step it back up a bit. If you have the emitter on a pedestal you can always create that black hole when turning the reflector too deep - with a flat sink you need to cut almost upto the mirrored area for best focus.

you will always get a lighter spot in the very middle, this is due to the design of the 5w as shitty said.

it's possible that you might need to reduce the stalk some more, but my guess is that the beam is just about as good as you can get it, and it's a result of the 5w design.
