Well, I'm new to LED's and to electronics and I have a small problem:
I bought a flashlight so I could modify it and put a UV LED light instead. I got all the polarities figured out, but my light doesn't work. Does anybody know what and how much batteries I need to use? When I plug the LED in my transformer (1.5V output) it works perfectly.

Help is welcome /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I think your transformer is probably putting out more than 1.5 volts! In general the shorter the wavelength of the LED, the higher the forward voltage needs to be to get it to fire. I believe that NUV LEDs fall in the 3.5v to 3.6v VF range. Try two 1.5v batteries in series and see what happens.

thank you for your help. It turns out that the light got burned out (probably).

Thanks again.

Thanks again. I rechecked it and it turns out I need three batteries.

Thanks.
