I have just received a brand new TK40 via post from the States, unboxed it, installed Energizer lithium's and.....nothing.

Not a glimmer...what am I doing wrong?

Checked polarity, checked I've got it the pack in the correct way (spring to the top)...could I have dud one????

Maybe try another set of batteries (alkalines, nimh) just to isolate the problem. Try also checking the tailcap, make sure its tight. Can't tell how many times that fixed a light that wouldn't turn on.

Cap as tight as it will go - nothing.

The batteries are brand new out of the packet Lithiums. (I have a set of NiMh on charge as we speak but if the new lithiums won't do it why would the rechargeables?)

Could it be the switch in the tail? Doesn't look like you can open it to see what's going on...

Really disappointing - my first serious light and it doesn't work...:mecry:

I have a multi meter and the battery pack is showing volts at the top end (about 12?).

Can you get at the switches in these?

It's supposed to work on normal alkaline AA's. I'm just not getting anything regardless of what I try.

really disappointed at this point...maybe I'm doing something basic incorrectly?

TK40 works at 6V with two sets of four AA cells in parallel. Nowhere in the battery holder you should see 12V unless you have put the batteries in the wrong way.
