Hi I have been browsing this forum for quite a long time. I have a few laser pointers including a Newish Greenie etc.

Recently I bought a 50mw Blue DPSS module and controller on ebay :rock:

It is an etreme lasers model blm-50. It is sweet! Is anyone familiar with these modules as I have some questions on inputs? Also just some general things like who makes these, what the actual output is, and anyones general experience with them. Most importanly I am looking for a good source for broad spectrum safety googles as i have lasers in red, blue, and green spectrums.

In my auction the guy also included a 100mw Red DPSS kit. The sell on ebay for $10. I was thinking of machining a housing for the module and putting the controllor in a porject box, but is this kit worth my time?

It looks like a fun project, but I fear it might be an IR laser that happens to make a little red light, if you get my drift. I bought the Extreme not really expecting this thing. Anyone play around with one of these?

Well I tryed the red kit out today. It is no were near 100mw as can be expected. The driver board may be uesful as it provides 500mw at 4.5 volts to the IR diode from a 110 AC source. So either the diode is a peice of crap or the assembly is not alighned properly because the 650nm output should be more than it is, I would guess it is about 20~30mw. So I would stay away from these on e-bay unless you need a cheap ttl driver.

I am looking for a dpss assembly that I can drive with the board.

The 430nm is freakin' cool. Pops ballons almost instantly. Fun stuff. I was gonna take some pics outside but the weather is getting crappy. I will have to wait a few days.
