I recently purchased an HID diving light that requires 8 c cell batteries either disposable or rechargeable. Standard disposables are 1.2v and 2200 Mah. I noticed that there are several rechargeable c size 1.2v batteries available in different Mah ratings. I found 4500Mah and 9000Mah. Is there any advantage or disadvantage to using 4500Mah or 9000Mah batteries in my HID lamp.

well, the advantage to the 9000mah is that they will run longer, the disadvantage is that they will cost more!

Beyond that, there shouldn't be any difference at all as far as the light is concerned.

Get the 9000mah... When you're diving, the longer the runtime, the better (and safer) you'll feel comfortable at using it... And rechargeables repay themselves in the first 3-5 uses anyways...

I would say, stay away from the 2200mah Rayovac or Energizer NiMH Ds, unless you're concerned strictly about charging times... Otherwise, they are not a reliable source of power if you're concerned about runtime...

Quection??
could you give more detail on the 4500mah & 9000mah rechargable C? which band and how much?

HID would have high tempt cut out so more Ah will not be a problem, if you run it too long and hot it will cut the power itself.

Thanks

Wait a tick, are we talking about C or D sized batts? I see data there for 9000mAh D cells, but the C cells listed at those sites are all normal 3000 or 4000mAh.

If you could really find a 9Ah C cell that would be spectacular, but I dont see it there.

Falcon,
Thanks for your info anyway..I also want to get a night cannon !
bye takecare

No Prob... When it comes to diving, I've found it quite hard to beat Underwater Kenetics' Light Cannon LC100. For what you pay for it and what it does, it's quite possibly the best diving light available.
