Found a 3W UV emitter at KD on a standard 6-sided Star, got it. Already have a 1W modded out but I could use more power and I doubt I could realistically get 3W from a single AA that that light used just by changing drivers.
I got a DX 15687 thinking that might be a cool host, a bit large but I use 18650's for other stuff so I'm not having to worry about two battery types.
But... duh.. the 6-sided star won't fit on that pill. What are my options?
1. I could cut down the star and fit it into the pill.
2. I could try to mill out the pill to fit the Star.
3. I could try to remove the emitter from the star, however, AFAIK that's probably not a neutral-slug device so I can't Arctic Silver it to the pill. So I'd need the round MCPCB, which doesn't improve the thermal path much.
4. Can I find a cheap 3W host that can take a 6-sided star board? That would be nice. I'm starting to think a CR123 would be a better choice anyways, this flashlight is large and I don't need the extended runtime. Any ideas there?
