The man himself e-mailed me that Lithiums will work and would probably give the best run time. ( I had been concerned they might cook the electronics b/c his site didn't mention liths) What do you use and what results are you getting?

This is good to hear! I've been using Lithium AAs for a while in my LS mod maglite, and I LOVE the weight savings. Even if they didn't last as long as Alkalines, I think I would still use them...

I've got an Illuminator coming in the next week or so, and I'm pretty sure it will get Lithiums when it arrives. I will try to keep an accurate battery life log and post my findings...

I am using lithiums in my Lambda Illuminator no problems yet, didn't really run it for long periods but I will try it later today

Besides weight, what other advantages are there for lithiums? Brighter? Longer run times?

Also, I'm not sure I ever saw lithium AAs here in Hawaii. Are they pretty easy to get?

You can get them here with relative ease. Just run down to Long's and check out the camera dept. I am pretty sure I have seen them at the Walmart in Waikele also. They run about $10 for four, but I have seen them as low as $8.

The battery in question is the Energizer L91. It's branded as an Energizer e2 PHOTO AA battery, and available for slightly less than $10 for a pack of four at Wal-Mart and Target in the continental US. I wouldn't expect them to be difficult to locate in Hawaii, but what would I know?

They are supposed to last longer in high current situations, and be less sensitive to temperature extremes as well as being noticably lighter than Alkalines. If you check in the Battery forum (which I just discovered

) you will find discussions about these Lithium AAs and their run times at different loads. As far as I can tell, Energizer is the only company to make a Lithium AA, and they only make one model, so when you see someone speak of a Lithium AA, they are speaking of the L91.
