I'm looking for a zoom-flood LED flashlight with a red lens. I like how the zoom-flood gives a floodlight type beam without a bright circle in the middle. How come I don't see any for sale anywhere? I was hoping to find a decent one for $10 - $20 but everything I see with red lens has a bright spot in the middle.

Probably. I was just reading a thread on those. How can I tell what the output would look like if I put a diffuser on? Know of any good descriptive pictures anywhere?

Also - do you mean a specific diffuser product or just doing something like wrapping my light with some kind of film?

If you already have the light, you can experiment by putting a white water bottle cap or a piece of scotch tape over the lens. It might be all you need, but if you want to be able to pop it off and back on quickly a dedicated diffuser might be worth the money.

I have a couple of lights that wear a Surefire F04 all the time. It makes the beam perfect for looking around your immediate area, and it pops off and on really easily.
