How Long Do Surefire Bulbs Last?

My friend and I are buying Surefire 2G's, and possibly E2E-HA's. Both of us are really cheap *******s, so we wanted to ask you experts the following questions:

1) How long will a Surefire 65 lumen bulb last before it burns out in a 2G?

2) How long will the 120 Lumen bulb last in the same flashlight?

3) How long does the 60 lumen bulb in the E2E Executive last?

4) What is the generally excepted level of lumens it takes to "stun" a person? You know, like most handgunners say don't go below a .38 Special or .380 ACP for self defense.

5) Exactly how much is a lumen? I think it's 1,000 candlepower???

1) the official answer from surefire is about 25+ hours. i can't confirm that since i haven't used a surefire that long yet, so someone else will have to verify that.

2) the P61 should last about 25+ hours also (i think all their bulbs have the same lifespan), but it will eat up 2 123A batteries in 20 minutes.

3) should be 25+ hours as well.

4) the general consensus is 60 lumens or a certain amount of candlepower (not sure how much), so an E2 with an MN03 or anything brighter should be good enough.

5) lumens and candlepower are two separate methods of measuring brightness.

lumens measures the total light output of a bulb. the lumens level of a torch with a 60 lumen bulb would stay the same whether the beam was focused to a flood or spot.

candlepower on the other hand, measures the intensity of a beam at its brightest spot, at a certain distance. meaning, if i had a torch with a 60 lumen bulb, the candlepower would decrease when i put it on flood, and increase when i focused it to a very tight spot.

so to answer your question, there's no way co-relation between lumens and candlepower, since both are completely different. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif however, i believe candlepower does have an effect on how much of a stun effect it has on a person. a 6D maglite for example, focused to a spot will more have a stun effect than if it was focused to a flood.
