I've heard of some members on CPF doing mods. Can somebody give me an idea how much it would cost to swap out the led, optics and current settings?

I'd also like to know who among our members offer this service.

Thanks.

Looks to be about 50 plus parts depending on the complexity...I may be wrong but that's about what I would do it for once people saw the quality of my work hmm....wanna be my first? whatcha thinkin about doing? And why not do it yourself?
I am having a ball with mine, check a cuple out (look under SKYWLKR in this forum).

I do'nt have any with convertors yet ,but will try a couple this week.

Billson,

What are you modding? KL1, KL3, KL4, Arc? Some mods are more cost effective than others. PM me with specifics and I might be able to help you out. Actual cost will depend on what needs to be done. In most cases a simple tweaking of the existing circuit is all that is needed, along with a nice high dome. As far as optics go, I like the NX05 that comes stock in most lights. The fraens are nice, but I think that they are somewhat limited in usefulness, due to the beam pattern.

As of now, I don't have a specific light in mind. It would depend on how much more it would cost me over the light purchase itself. I prefer lights the size of the Arc or the firefly. Right now, I have an Arc LSHF and the other day I saw a picture of an Arc LS modded with a lux 3 running at 750mA and the beam was awesome when compared side by side with an ordinary LS already running at 667mA. Because of this, I'll probably want all my future purchases to be at least this bright.

A problem I have is I live in the Philippines and it wouldn't be practical for me to send my light all the way to the US to have it modded as it would become too expensive.

One option I can think of is to purchase a light and have it shipped directly to whoever's going to mod it. Then that person would be tasked to send me the light after the necessary upgrades.

Another is if the modder actually has the necessary spare components I want so he would just have to sell the whole light to me directly. This is probably the more cost effective solution because it would be built from scratch so there wouldn't be any wasted parts from the original light.

Let's take for example the stock Arc LS or the Firefly, what mods would be possible for them? The only thing I'm sure I want is that I want at least a T-binned Lux 3 in it but I have no idea at what current it should be running at to be as bright as it can be with reasonable runtime. I read somewhere that a Lux 3 must be run above 700mA to maximize its potential but how would that affect the runtime? I definitely don't want a very bright light that falls out of regulation after 30 minutes.

Another thing is I want the tint to be as white as possible but from what I gather here on CPF, the TWOK's are hard to come by so assuming I'm able to find one, it would surely add more to the cost.

I'm not really concerned very much about the price as long as I think it's worth it but I'd still want it to be as cost-effective as I can make it but who doesn't?

The more suggestions the better.

Thanks.
