Im looking for a project to build somthing and i want to build a laser

i have no idea how much this will cost, what parts go into a laser, how to build one, or how one works.

any tips on this project?

You seems to have capabilities in electronics, it's a good start point.

I suggest you to start to study lasers principles and functions before you build one, it's very important and not simple at all!
