got a new tailcap for 1xAA Fenix sent to me by Fenix Store. Was having problems with the original purchase (not always turning on when pressed)
I figured it was going to be a whole new tailcap, just screw it on, but it is the internals only.
Anyone can tell me how to replace it? could probably figure it out myself but would rather read a tutorial or instructions first.

BTW, heir CS was excellent. Emailed them last Fri., same day reply, sent them my address for replacement. They confirmed it shipped on Mon. and it arrived Wed.

Remove the retaining ring, replace the guts, and put the retaining ring back in.

Sounds like your original problem was a loose retaining ring to begin with. Start by tightening it and see if the original problem goes away.

There are two holes in the shiny ring around the spring. Put the ends of a pair of needle nose pliers in those two holes, and loosen like a screw. Pay attention to what order the parts go.

If you forget to pay attention, when it's all apart, to put it back together it should go... The rubber clickie cover, the thin metal washer, the switch assembly, and the threaded shiny ring you took out to get it to all fall apart (make sure the O-ring is in the middle of it).

I don't know the names of all this stuff, but it will probably make it easier for you anyways. :duh2:

thanks guys, that did the trick. But after reading your comment about loose ring, I figured since I had an extra assembly, I'd experiment. i got it all apart just to be sure I knew how to assemble/disassemble. then I reassembled with original switch and tightened down the ring. Not too tight, but a bit more than what would seem sufficient tension.

All seems to be okay so far but I will give it a day or two of use to see if the switch acts up again. Previously it wouldn't light up 35-45% of the time when you pressed the clickie if it was not it use. I use this as my EDC for work and it was doing it all throughout the shift, so it shouldn't take long to tell if this fix takes care of it or not.

Thanks again fellas.
