I have an E2 that has been a favorite of mine for its form factor and overall usefulness. I keep checking and waiting for a LED drop-in but for some reason no body wants to make one.

Is there a way I can mod it or build my own LED drop in? There has got to be one that is similar, even if too small maybe that could be fit in. Does anyone have any ideas?

There has got to be a way.

Thanks for the help.

There was once an LED drop in for the e-series - I'm trying to remember the name - something tower. My old mind is getting rusty. But afaik it is no longer being made. (edited to add: JP beat me to it!)

The e-series seems based on my experience to work differently than the C series and uses the lego approach of switching heads rather than a P60 style drop in. However, there are a myriad of Eseries LED upgrade heads depending on what you want to achieve, including a fair number of modded ones.

The current production E2 replacement is the KX2 although a KL1 (stock or modded) would work as well and offer more input choices.

And when you look at the drop in module you can see how the basic structure of the E2 head isn't terribly condusive to a simple drop in unit...

Easiest way to get a "drop in" is use the VME head with a Malkoff. Or just get a KX2, they're relatively affordable when you get one off the marketplace

Exactly this the best bang for your buck upgrade route. With the VME head, you can put whichever Malkoff M60 you choose. The great part is the modularity of this system.

I know the OP wanted a drop in, but there aren't many drop ins for the regular incan heads. If you want to swap the head for something else, there are more choices available:

The TLS LED upgrade head available from OpticsPlanet at decent prices.

Finally there is the Surefire KX2 or KX2C LED upgrade heads, they are nice with its 2 modes (single mode only on KX2C) but the prices are a bit high.

Well see, that makes sense, how come nobody told me about this before. I will look into this route.

Is the M series drop in the same as a G2 drop in? I have a few of those.

Thanks.

As for the Malkoff, they fit all the C/P/G/Z series lights. If you were putting a M60 in a Nitrolon light, it is recommended to have a metal head since the nitrolon will not dissipate heat as well.
