One of mine Fenix E0 is dead, or kind of dead. When I turn it on it's dead but if i tap it or shake it then it will flicker.

It´s my own fault, the flashlight fell to a concrete floor with the car keys. But I really like that flashlight so it would be great if it was possible to repair it.

So how should I open it without any more damage?

I seem to recall some folks being able to push the guts out by applying force to the LED, but I'm sure most are too well sealed to allow this. Someone in the know will certainly enlighten.

Yup - like Flying Turtle says - you can heat the head (I used a butane lighter) and push it out by applying pressure to the LED (I used a wood dowel).

Beware doing this, though - it's possible that the LED leads will bend, pushing it down into the inductor and causing damage, if the pill is not well enough potted from the factory.

Just to be safe - I'd make sure the problem wasn't elsewhere (like the negative contact/spring at the bottom of the battery tube) before attempting to remove the pill. Maybe double-check the operation of the head alone, using a single battery and some test leads...?

The pill is actually screwed in to the head.

And I think I have found the error :) There seems to be a broken solder joint, if I had the equipment I would try to solder it.

Finally I bought a soldering iron (Antex XS25) and managed to repair the E0 :D So it's back from the twilight zone
