How to regulate 5V 100mA from 12V

hi I have a van that I would like to use in my flashlight, the light's gonna have 12V batteries, and the fan is 5V ~100mA - is there a possibility to use Downboy in order to not waste too much energy as heat? If so, would the DB400 do the job?

Seriously, tho.. What size and speed/CFM is the fan you want to use? I have a pile of small 12v fans and they're all over the surplus world cheap. They'll do fine on a direct 12v (10-14V) feed and save you the extra guts.
Give me the max/min size and depth you can use for a fan, and I'll see what's here. Stuff one in an envelope and mail it to ya, or come by SFO and pick one up..

Thank you for your offer. Well the light is actually pretty small. The battery input power can range between 12V or 10.8 Volts depending on the batteries used.
It took me about 2 months to find the right heatsink that has a built in van, and I still had to cut it up to make it fit.
So here are the dimensions I am looking for. The heatsink including van (built in or on top-right now its build in) should be circular, max 1.75inch diameter and 1/2 inch high. The top should be flat to glue the Luxeons on.
