Well, my HP10 appears to be dead. I am not a light guru. So....

First, help me not be stupid. What should I check?

Second, if it really is dead, after being carried around a lot, but after very little use....do I have any recourse? Warranty?...

The power button on mine is tricky. Try pushing it different ways and shaking the head unit. If you have time, send it in RMA for an exchange or repair. I already go a RMA # to do that, but I need to find a replacement so I can keep hiking.

Any water gets in? If you dispatch it yourself, it might damage the water shielding.

The batteries and switch are always the first things I check. I do from time to time brain fade and put the batteries in backward... And, switches aren't foolproof, they fail more often than you'd think. After that, try checking the wiring and connections. If that doesn't do it, then contact the seller you bought it from and ask for an exchange for a new unit.

I send mine back tomorrow. If you don't need it in the meantime, you can wait to see how mine is resolved. The warranty is two years, so you're good there.

Well I changed batteries a couple times, just to make sure I wasn't stupid. (I really wish that was the problem.)

I have had it for a while, so I assume there is no replacement from the vendor.

Is there a factory warranty? Who do I contact?

As I said, the warranty is two years. Some vendors provide some protection. If that isn't an option then contact Fenix directly.

RWblue - you mentioned you've been carrying it around for awhile. probably in a backpack? My theory is that the wires inside the power cable have parted due
to rhythmical motion (jostling) and suffered metal fatigue. The outside plastic sheath could very well look undamaged.

I made a carry container to prevent this sort of wear and tear by cutting the tops off 2 plastic water bottles (the throw away type)
carefully folding the headlamp so it fits inside and sliding the 2 half's together immobilizing it completely. Like a medicine pill only
the size of a can of soda.

It was in a bicycle bag. I carried a petzel there for years with no issues.
