I just checked in for 10 minutes and now I want new flashlights even though I don't use flashlight that much. I just want them. I think I have shopaholic syndrome that I somehow managed to control to a minimum. I did go crazy with gun purchase but they are more of an investment than anything.

Since I don't look at flashlights that much, it seems like the technology is really improving. I am looking at these flashlights from Fenix:

The PD20 is compact and would be perfect as a keychain's flashlight, which would be always be available. I am a little concern of that it only has 1hr run time in maximum mode, which may come in handy in case of emergency such as power outage while inside the mall. I wouldn't worry if I was stuck inside Walmart during a power outage because I can easily locate a flashlight or battery section and take what is needed for such emergency; however, the mall can be a dangerous place to be during a power outage. I do like the availability of 2AA flashlight since most stores carry such batteries. However, flashlights taking CR123A can use 18650 battery, which I have just heard about tonite and haven't seen yet, for a very long run time.

I just got done with a 2 days Bass Fishing Tournament where a good flashlight served me well. This is an annual event and I am looking forward to next year. I wonder if I should give in and buy a flashlight now or wait till next year to let technology improves some more. Most people didn't carry flashlights and those who did only had those 2 or 4D Maglite with older bulb. My tiny AAA flashlight put their monster stick to shame. I figure a nice 230 lumen Fenix would have the crowd bow to me like they see Jesus.

tell your wallet we said HI!!

(btw, no hotlinking images, and max 800 px in any direction)

All I can tell you is don't go to the "Cpf's custom & mod B/S/T" section!!!

Your life will be forever changed and you will end up broke (but you will have some awesome flashlights). :broke:

I say get one now and get another for next years tournament.......always nice to have a backup.

It's always cool to see someone get the bug! Welcome to our support group!

I do have to admit, this is the first time I've seen a concern mentioned over light runtime on turbo mode because of the possibility of being in a shopping mall during a power outage...?!?

How much time do you spend in malls?

Do they regularly experience power failures?

Are these malls loaded with thugs waiting for the lights to go off so they can mug folks without bright flashlights?

Will it take you longer than an hour with that bright of a light to find an exit?

These are only the most obvious and funnier queries; there are many others to ponder in one's spare time.

But, hey, get that PD20 and be sure to carry spare batteries!

For what it's worth Malls have emergency battery or generator powered lighting in blackouts.

I have a cure for spending more on flashlights than you want to...either NEVER read this forum again or ONLY use prepaid credit cards that you pay cash for. Prepaid cards have the added advantage that if somebody gets yor numbers from the net they cannot spend more than what's left on the card.

As for the PD20, it is an awesome little light. I make people say "holy s**t" all the time when i turn it on turbo. Although for me it's too bulky to carry on my keys. I don't really like anything bigger than a AAA light attached to my keys, but you may feel differently. And i wouldn't be too concerned about the runtime in case of an emergency or power outage. You have 3 other modes to use that will last you longer than an hour. But if you want, you could get one of these capsules and carry a spare cr123 on your keys. But there are lots of other great small edc lights to look at as well besides the pd20.

Only certain 2x CR123 lights can use 18650 batteries. If you're looking for a 2AA light as well, you can check out selfbuilt's 2AA review.

Oh and as for a light for your bass tournament, I say get a light that you can use everyday, then by the time the tournament rolls around next year there will be a whole bunch of new lights you want anyway and the light you already have can be your back up :naughty:. Because if you keep coming here everyday, i really don't think you'll be able to hold out a whole year on buying a light anyway lol.

yeah, I hate us guys too...
I should really spend my flashlight money on something more important, like the gf.

If a lithium gets frustrated and vent, at best its only fire and smoke. If the gf vents...I might be the first ground casualty :duck: :aaa: :eek:oo:

I carry the P1D on my keychain. Gets the same OMG factor from people when I turn it on...esp. in the dark. I recently parked in a corner spot in a parking lot so I wouldn't get dinged by careless parkers. When I came out I realized the lot was pitch dark and abutted by woods. Teens are known to drink in the woods so I didn't know what I'd be walking up to in the dark. Turned on the trusty P1D on turbo and scanned the area as I walked to my car. It was nice to know nobody was going to pop out of the shadows.

When I started I needed another hobby like I needed another hole in my head... now I have 4 flashlights on order and 2 19650 cells coming this week.
