Hi guys. I've been researching the following four flash lights:

Sunwayman v11r
Jetbeam RRT01
Eagletac D25c
Niteye Eye10

All four are within the exact price, size and lumens I'm looking for (though I'm open if there are more out there this size with greater lumens). I'm planning on using RCR123A rechargeables.

Which one should I get? I work in a facility where kids AWOL so I need a flashlight with a really good throw so I can see from a great distance.

Any other light I missed that I should consider?

I have the V10R and it's great both in terms of performance and quality, therefore I'd recommend it.

None of these lights are going to give you a lot of throw, but the Eagletac should throw the farthest with the XPG chip while the others with XML are going give you a wider hotsopt and more overall output.

How much throw do you need? Most things in that size range won't throw very far due to the smaller reflector. In this case, it might come down to what design and user interface you like best.

I did a reevaluation and more research last night when I was at work and I really like the ui of the v11r, and being able to infinitely set the amount of light that I need depending on my situation such as looking for a missing runaway of at most 100 yards away, or doing my round indoors that doesn't require a lot of light or just sometimes only needing a tiny bit of light when I'm in a dark kitchen fixing myself a plate of food.

I still want to stay in this size where it's pocketable as at times I do a lot of running so I don't want to lug around something big.

Anyone heard of the heider cf1? It seems like it might be the same as a sipik sk98 or a bbqbuy 300lm Cree (it looks like the same body) but the heider cf1 claims it can go 200 meters and the beam produces a circle instead of a square beam (I can't stand the square beam).

I wish I can find a light that has the throw capability like the heider and the control ring and lumens like the v11r!

This is my first post - got to this forum as I was looking at the ad for the ad for the heider light. Glad I did - looks like I will not be buying that torch

1 RCR123 thrower? My bet is on the Nitecore EC1 and the Lumintop L1C and a Javelin with C2H body.

Heider is nothing more than the sipik sk98 but don't get the sk98 as they overheat. Instead, look into the sipik sk68. I've had one for quite sometime and it had served me well.

I own several EagleTac lights including the D25C clicky in XM-L U2 which has good throw and good flood, and XP-G2 R5 which has great throw. They are extremely bright on rechargeable RCR123As though they do get hot rather quickly. They are extremely compact as well. One drawback is that on RCR123As their aluminum versions and 2012 titanium versions only have 2 brightness levels: low and high. Medium operates at high level, so you've got low, high, high. The 2013 titanium version operates at low, medium, and high with RCR123As. RCR123As last around 30 minutes on high (3 minutes turbo then 25 minutes high), so if I am using them while traveling I usually use CR123 primaries which last around 60 minutes on high. Anyway, great lights. I have no experience with Sunwayman, Jetbeam, or Niteye.

Sorry Southpaw, I don't want to dissappoint you, but as the others have mentioned, the size reflectors that the lights you selected don't throw light all that far. They're great lights for under 100 feet', but IMO NOT for looking for a child who is trying to allude you at 100 yards! With one of these lights you might see him if he is dressed in all white and doing jumping jacks in the middle of a field 100 yards away, but otherwise, I wouldn't bet on it.

I'm relatively new to better lights and have little experience, but I have two 2x CR123 lights, with similar sized reflectors, the thrunite Neutron 2C, and the Niteye MSC20 they are great for around the house, and back yard, or walking the dog, but reallly only work out to about 100 feet. Yes they do put SOME light out beyond that, but if I have my choice and know I will be looking beyond 100 feet, I'd grab one of my P60 based lights, or a bigger one yet.

IMO, you'd be hard pressed to be really happy even with lights with a P60 dropin. You might want to go to something a bit larger, like a TK35, TN11, or G25C2. Get used to the idea of a holster carry so that you can run with it.

Like someone else mentioned the nitecore EC1 will out throw all of those (and is cheaper). It's got an XP-G and a deeper reflector and its lux rating is higher than most, in the class. I have the sunwayman and the eagletac (D25C NW XM-L) and I gifted an EA2 to my sister and out of the 3 the EA2 could throw a tighter spot farther. I believe the EC2 is also the smallest out of the 3 but the UI is very different.

The big "problem" with magnetic control ring lights is you have no way of knowing the runtime, or even making an educated guess as to how much battery you might have left.

They're bigger than what your looking for but for finding running kids at 100yards (I'd say that's a pretty damn important task) you can get a much further throwing light without gaining much size, the nitecore EA4 is smaller than a TP roll and VERY powerful. I've never handled the eagletac G25C2 also mentioned above but its sounding better and better and I read more and more positive reviews almost daily. Also the Eagletac GX25A3 is similiar 3xAA (and also happens to be direct competition) to the nitecore EA4, any of those lights would locate a child at 100yards with plenty of throw to spare, and all are very compact for the output.

My money is on the Nitecore SRT7, which I have just ordered (£99.95 incl delivery here in the UK). Up to 960 lumens and it has a red/blue strobe that will make the kids think the police have arrived. That will bring them in for tea! :)

LOL... That's funny! :)

I just realized that this thread is MONTHS old, and the OP has not responded since November 2012.
I noted that he was online last month (MAY 2013) Hopefully he'll see that the thread has been reactivated, and he will let us know what if anything he bought.
