Ice cube bags

No, not the kind from the gas station.

Long ago, I purchased several packages of these blue ice cube bags at the PX. You filled the bag, which self sealed at the end (more or less) freeze, and then pull on both ends of the bag, breaking the little perforation type compartments, and you'd have a bag of ice cubes. The back of the bag(package) said the product was from a foundation for the blind. Which makes sense if you try and think of filling a cube tray and getting it to the freezer without sight.

I have searched high and low for these again, with no luck. I thought I'd find them easily on the internet, but mostly turn up lyrics to Ice Cube songs. A neat product I'd like to find again, anyone know of them? Thanks!

These are pretty common here, and available from pretty much every supermarket.

We get these from the supermarket in Australia also. It was a great find and the only way we make ice cubes now :thumbsup: (There is never a big flat space for a tray).

Weird, because I found some in my local grocery a couple of weeks ago and gave them to a friend who is going on vacation to mexico. Exact same as you described.

Very cool. I guess I was getting a little too complicated with my search. I was using the words "for the blind" Heh, "Ice cube bags" turns them up first result. Thanks for the links, I now have a bunch on the way.

I guess they are a bit wasteful on plastic, but about 80% of my trash goes into the recycle container, although I don't remember if these had a triangle recycle number thingy or not...
