I recently bought an Arc AAA (actually, 3 of them) and use it on my keychain as my edc. This is a
great light from an outstanding company. My ideal light; however, might be slightly different. One
problem with a keychain light is that you have to fish it out of your pocket, and of coarse there are a
bunch of keys attached making it a little unwieldly. Another issue is that it doesn't have a momentary
switch or one-hand operation capability. My ideal light would be a penlight type that I could
clip in my shirt pocket. It would use 2 AAA batteries powering a 5mm led, with a push button on/off
switch with slight depression for momentary on operation. I realize the SL Stylus is somewhat similar,
but the AAAA battery requirement and twist on operation are big disadvantages. Anyway, I would think
that my ideal light could be manufactured for under $20. Any other ideals?

Why attach it to your keychain? I carry my Arc AAA in the "watch" pocket of my jeans. I dont like attaching useful stuff to a keychain, makes it harder to use.

Hmmm, check out the Quig light. Do a forum search, also I believe that Craig did a review at the LEDMUSEUM. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/popcorn.gif

I've got hundreds of flashlight reviews up, but no Quig light, or Quik light, or whatever the F they call it.
Unfortunately, that's one light I have no review of. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jpshakehead.gif

There are probably a dozen or so of our city cops that use the Quiglites every night and love them. They basically disappear in their uniform pockets and provide plenty light for doing paperwork and checking ID and such. No complaints about battery life either, but I suspect that they are only running them for a couple of minutes at a time.

If I remember, the Quiq light has an auto-shutdown sequence built in, so if you don't remember to turn it off, it remembers for you.

Pedalinbob, I have an incomplete page about the Derringer right here if you're interested.

Streamlight Stylus 3. The batteries last a long time so its not like youll be in a situation where itll crap on you. They sell the batteries at all Radio Shack stores so you can also stock up if needed. Ive had mine for about two years and theyre still somewhat bright on the same batteries. It used to be my EDC before I got my Arc AAA in January 02 and I still used it for the next month or two because of the convenience of just pulling on it when clipped to my pocket. The Stylus has a momentary button on the end and can be either pushed on or twist on with two fingers. HTH.
