It looks like I will indeed be adding a new truck to my growing arsenal of vehicles by next week.
From the looks of it, it will be an Izuzu 4500 Cabover with a 16x7x7.5 foot box on it.
I will post a picture of it as soon as I have it.

The 36 month/unlimited mileage warranty was kinda hard to pass up. ;)
I drive over 120,000 miles a year all over Texas. :rock:
I'm trading in my 2003 Ford F350 for it, as I outgrew that a loooong time ago.

I'd venture to say a fair amount more volume than his Sprinter! Perhaps even more weight too.

The original plan was for me to be in one of those Izusu trucks so I could REALLY carry some stock. But I sure do like my Ram!!!

Ever since I was a kid I've wanted a medium-duty 4x4 to go exploring in. If I had the $ today I'd pick up a Mitsubishi Fuso FG... factory 4x4 with none of the bells-n-whistles of modern trucks (ABS, power windows, etc.). Just a solid and super-strong four-by to go rambling in.

Looks like I'll be taking possesion of it next Friday when it's 16 foot box with a lift is attached to it.

Turns out that the box is made by Supreme

I can hardly wait to get started with running my routes with this machine. :)

By the way,
For those who dislike being "turned over" to a finance and insurance agent during the new car, or truck buying process,
This is the second time I have had a pleasant experience dealing with a "commercial" salesman.
Just like with my Dodge Sprinter, he handled everything from the initial test drive all the way to the financing. :wow:

I was told last week that I should have it by today at the latest after I signed the paperwork back then.
No mileage statements were ever signed for the bobtail, nor my F350 being traded for it.
Today is here and no bobtail truck. :wtf: :(
Looks like there will be a delay until next wednesday before I can take delivery of my new truck.
This is according to my ever more friendly salesman at the truck dealership. :p
This is starting to look familiar. :rant: :whistle:
Think I should blow the deal and find another truck with the box already on it someplace else? :shrug:

The problem of going somewhere else is that they also may give you the run around hoping to sell you the truck. You are buying a truck and a box that is very popular in California that I see everybody driving around in these trucks. The brand of the truck and the box is very high demand and popular.

EVERY business has delays! And that IS a popular truck/box combo....

It's good to know I picked a popular make and model after all. ;)

There were several similarly configured trucks with only a 12,000 # GVWR that were ready to go with boxes already mounted.
These were "3500's"
However, I knew from other drivers that these were prone to tipping over when loaded floor to ceiling and front to back with tires, or other heavy freight.

I picked the "5500" 17,500# gvwr 150" wheelbase version just for that extra margin of load safety.
This truck chassis was actually in stock, and I test drove it and liked it.
But like so many of the other trucks there, it had no box on it yet.
According to Supreme body sales on the speakerphone in the truck sales office;
The hardwood floored 16' box was going to take a while.
The one with a pine floor could be ready much sooner.
I reluctantly went with the hardwood floored version after my salesman talked me into it. :oops:

The Sprinter will do for now, that much is true. ;)

The only stinker is paying for a truck that I don't have yet, while still retaining possession of a F350 that usually just sits now.

I'm hoping that this thread helps out for others thinking of getting a medium, or heavy duty truck.

Buisiness must be good for you to throw that kind of money out for a new truck.

I wish I had a truck again. Life is hard without a truck. :(

3rd...You definitely want the hardwood floor. You will see what I mean when you start abusing the floor. :)

3rd, what kind of business/route do you have? About how much is that truck, and does it require a class B license?

A hardwood floor will stomp all over a pine floor! It's well worth the wait!

That said... I have a sheet of 3/4" CDX Plywood in my Ram. I roll drums, pressure washers and all manner of other crap on it. And it's about a year old and still in decent shape....

I too can't WAIT to see pics and hear about mileage and such!

I deliver auto parts on out of town routes all over the state of Texas out of the DFW area.
Body parts, mechanical parts up to 1000 lb.+ crate motors, tires and rims, even some truck and trailer accessories.
I outgrew my Dodge Sprinter recently and my Ford F350 a while back.
The truck is $45,000 with tax title and license, box, and lift.

No special license needed. ;)
It's under 26,000# gvwr with no plans to haul hazmat.
In fact, it's only 17,500# in a vehicle that will still fit in some parking spots if I back it in.

You can dump that on some of the 1 ton diesel truck. Awesome!
